How the SPOLUM Drum Began

My name is Vladimír. I came to the Czech Republic from Ukraine in 1993. After working in construction, studying in Prague and starting a family, I worked in business between the Czech Republic and Ukraine.

War and prolonged stress made me return to my family and begin again. Around that time I discovered a metal resonant instrument online whose sound reminded me of bells. My first attempt was made from an old expansion tank and sounded far from finished, but it showed me a direction.

Playing became a regular moment of calm during a difficult period. This is a personal experience, not medical advice: a musical instrument is not a substitute for professional care or treatment.

My son and I presented our first drums on a crowdfunding platform. Around 1,500 people supported the project, and their feedback helped us improve the instrument step by step.

Today we handcraft and tune the drums in a workshop near Mladá Boleslav. We focus on a clear, long-lasting tone, durable construction and easy, intuitive playing for children and adults.

We continue to develop the instrument, listen to players and prepare demonstrations, video guides, meetings and concerts centred on music, rest and creating together.
